Last May, Jerry Martin opened the first-brick-and mortar store in Canada openly selling heroin, cocaine, and meth.

British Columbia is in the midst of a 3-yr pilot program decriminalizing small amounts of drugs. However, selling them still remains illegal, so Martin was arrested within 3 hours of opening the store.

According to Martin, he was attempting to save lives by selling addicts safer drugs to use — tested drugs that would not contain fentanyl and other super deadly ingredients.

Unfortunately, Martin, 51, who struggled most of his life with drug addiction, died on Friday (June 30) of a suspected fentanyl overdose.
